AVI-8 – AVIATION INSPIRED
Saturday 16th January
A Fresh addition here at The Watch Hospital, in the shape of a military aircraft inspired range with detailing second to none. AVI-8 in their own words describe how their collection “seeks to honour both the aircraft and the untold story of the airmen who have dedicated themselves both in and out of the cockpit to bring these incredible machines to life”. We think that’s a mission they accomplish with flying colours.

Whilst aviation inspired watches may not sound like a new concept, it’s the conviction of the AVI 8 range that sets them apart from the rest. The range consists of numerous styles, all named in honour of iconic fighter planes that have proved the benchmark for engineering success in the sky. Take the Hawker Harrier II model, also known as the Harrier Jump Jet which earned it’s self a place in the aviation hall of fame for it’s unique vertical take off method or the “Flyboy” the more subtle model given the same charismatic nickname as the men that flew these incredible machines.

Through every detail of the timepieces the root of inspiration is clear. The dials and markers look as if lifted directly from the dashboard of a cockpit and it’s easy for one to imagine them reading altitude or knots rather than the time. The colour ways naturally follow suit, as the range features military shades of green, khaki, browns and navy as well as subtle camouflage options. The attention to detail doesn’t stop with the body of the watch, the strap continues with a high finish with vintage looking genuine leather straps or nato alternatives.
Hosting fantastic quality Japanese movements in both Auto and Quartz options whilst also maintaining water resistance to 5 ATM, this range is as every bit practical as it is stylish.
